Our Story
A Legacy of Sporting Passion
Adrian and Marie’s journey into the world of sports is deeply rooted in their family traditions. Adrian hails from a family of sailors, with a father who not only excelled in team sports like ocean yacht racing but also contributed significantly as a dedicated sport club volunteer. On the other hand, Marie’s family, with its roots in Devon, England, are nationally recognised for their achievements in surfing.
The Gymnastic Academy History
Originating in the Bay of Plenty in 2011, The Gymnastic Academy, founded by Marie, has been illuminating the path for children to embark on a journey of gymnastics learning. Over the years, it has expanded its reach, extending its impact to the Waikato region in 2017.
The Birth of GymSchool.NZ
The evolution from The Gymnastic Academy to GymSchool.NZ was not just a change in name but a strategic response to the evolving needs of the community. Post-COVID, community investors are seeking to contribute to a thriving environment by acquiring a zone. Recognising the need for a gymnastics program tailored to meet the unique needs of primary school children in New Zealand, GymSchool.NZ was born.
Marie’s vision is to foster a culture of lifelong participation in sports by offering children the opportunity to explore and enjoy learning new movement skills alongside their friends during the school day. In an inclusive and encouraging environment, children are empowered to discover their potential. Children develop movement proficiency and focus but also learn the values of teamwork, discipline, and mutual support. With each effort and progression, they experience the joy of personal achievement and growth.
“My goal is to provide sports coaches with meaningful career opportunities, while ensuring that children have access to dynamic and progressive sports movement and gymnastic coaching programmes designed specifically for school children across Aotearoa New Zealand.”
